Welcome to Painted Black Horse Ranch. Our ranch is owned and operated by Don, Tammy, and Todd Carello. Painted Black Horse Ranch sits on 85 acres of pastures, hills, trees, and creeks in the small town of Republic located in the beautiful Upper Penninsula of Michigan surrounded by the Great Lakes.

We have been in the horse industry since 1973 and have been breeding show quality paint horses since 1992.

We specialize in breeding homozygous and informative black tobianos without sacrificing quality for color. We breed for size, conformation, pedigree, disposition and color to halter and then go on to make great performance horses. We have produced winners and point earners in almost every discipline.
